Formuler Z10 Pro Max + 02F9 remote

I bought this combination on Amazon and the remote doesn't connect or light up, so I assume it's defective. When I contacted Formuler, they said that they don't recommend using this remote with the Z10 box, but didn't explain why.

Has anyone else used these devices together and have you had any issues?

Despite trying three sets of new batteries made by the same company, I could not get the remote to work. I inserted batteries made by a different company and the remote responded! Strange!
