4k channels not UHD

Hi guys,

lots of recent channels added are not in 4k at all (1080p) or they are using fake, non native 4k channels source resolution (4k resolution but from HD source), for example:

Sport TV 1 UHD 4K PT - HD source
Discovery+ 1 4K SE - down
V Sport Ultra UHD DK - 1080p
Benfica TV 1 UHD PT - HD source
Eleven Sports 1 UHD PT - HD source
RMC Sport 1 4k FR - down
Eurosport 1 4K SE - 1080p
Eurosport 2 4K SE - 1080p

i dont think there is a viable 4k stream.
4k movies on 120 minutes are 45 gb.

45 GB costs around 4.5$ (depends on providers like hetzner, leaseweb etc)
so if u watch 6 games a month, thats already 27$ a month.

So from business perspective its not viable.
I would pay 40$ a month for real 4k stream though but too many shit providers around here who has no pride in the work they do, so i dont expect we will see real 4k anytime soon.
maybe if HEVC get broader adoption.
 
Not sure what you mean by HEVC and not viable 4k stream because lots of NATIVE 4k stream are OK here on RAPID IPTV and all of them in HEVC codec of course, like for example RAI 4k, Ultra Nature 4k , RTL UHD even in HDR, UHD 1 HDR, MOOZ 4k, HOME 4k, V Sports UHD SE sometimes native 4k, 4k Heritage, NASA 4k,

So reality is completely different of what are you saying. I just noted some of them which are labeled as 4k and not native 4k, which is shame because the are very attractive channels if we can watch them in native 4k and HDR .

I forgot to include also TRT 4k and Eurosport 4k RU, also all streaming here in native 4k using hevc codec
 
Look.

For people here to provide 4K the source itself must be of high quality. Otherwise you will just scale up 1080p to 4K.
Not all broadcasters sends football or other shows in 4K.

The next thing is that the pirate who is capturing these 4k signal needs a computer that can encode 4K using HEVC/H265.
HEVC is very cpu-demanding prosess when encoding. So one would need like REALLY REALY BEEFED up hardware to encode many channels at same time.

The third and last issue is 4K even when encoded with HEVC (which saves ~30% bandwidth vs h264) is still HUGE.
So lets say 400 people are watching united - liverpool match in 4k.
400 x 8 mbps = 3200 mbps uplink required.


Lets just say it this way, we are not there yet where we can support 4k in large scale. Maybe in 5 years
 
Channels are not encoded, they send them native, also not each user is server as a single streamer if using Multicast protocol (one single stream for all users)

Large scale, what is large scale, if those mention channels use native 4k format, no reason why few more could not be added , also if needed in expense of other HD and SD channels, I am sure lots of them are just pure waste and not streamed at all.

RTS Deux 4K CH – LIVE: Switzerland 1080p

and we already have RTP 1 FHD PT and RTS Deux HD CH in the same format. Really strange.

I don't understand what is the point here?!

I would be happy if sports channels like DAZN 1 FHD DE DAZN 2 FHD DE sky Bundesliga SuperSport Albanien Art Sport Albania were able to run in 1080p 50 FPS at all You complain about 4K channels, we have to be FHD channels in FHD 1080 50 FPS first, before you ask for 4K

RTP1's last broadcast in 4K was in 2018! I can't understand why people make these streams available before trying to find out if the channel actually broadcasts in 4k.

1080p 50 fps is a nice upgrade from 25 fps, by HDR is an another galaxy.
EURO 2020 in 4k HDR was unforgettable experience in that format.
SAt1 4k HDR season opener, Borussia vs Bayern was fantastic experience. Overall football in 4k HDR in something else.

RAW 4k, multicast protocol over internet.
lol....

im outta here.. please learn some basics about internet protocols, bandwidth and encoding/decoding signals.

Yeah these IPTV resellers don't know what 4K even means, I try explaining to my iptv provider guy, he says that these channels are all in 4k but just putting a label beside the channel doesn't mean its in 4k. It's just in HD. Channels in UK that are in 4k are the following Sky Sports Premier League Ultra HD, Sky Sports F1 Ultra HD, (completely separate channel from a stand alone HD channel and are schedule based and not always broadcasting only when a live game is played). BT Sports Ultra HD, Eurosport 4k. Btw France has already moved on to 8K Ultra HD channel, they were broadcasting French Open in 8K as a test run. You can see video on YouTube.

Btw the only channel I have recently discovered is Eurosport 4K on Electro TV really good picture quality, the cleanest image I have seen on IPTV servers. I have tried few different services. This channel for me is broadcasting on my Samsung Q80A 65" in 4K HDR. My HDR gets turned on when I play this channel. So I'm almost 99% positive this is true 4K channel.

Sorry, i am new to the forum, and i have a question? At moment i am using a lite fire stick, which is fine, some programs, are in 4k, my tv is for 4k too, do i must change my fire stick too? Many thanks
 
Thanks i have got vlc, i was wondering about with 4 k tv, and iptv to change my firestick , with firestick 4 k, i have got firestick light at this moment
