Connection Issue from the USA

Maybe someone can explain to me the madness that has been going on lately.
Some info:
I am located in the USA/ET.

I can watch most channels during the day, until about 6pm (midnight in Europe), then it starts buffering every 5sec.
I know a VPN is not wanted here, but once I log into a German VPN I can watch most channels again.

I don't want to use a VPN if it is not wanted here.
Could my ISP block or limit access after a certain time?

Things I have done so far.

1. Used a VPN located in Europe and it works just fine.
2. Changed DNS to multiple others but that changes nothing
3. Used different IPTV apps on my ATV4 (GSE, iPlayTV, IPTVX) and VLC on my laptop.
- Same issues on every single app.

Any other suggestions?

So many replies from you guys
Glad to know that we can use VPN now. Set one up on my rp4 and so far it's providing me a pretty stable connection with the channels I'm interested in.
