MXQ PRO Smart Android TV Box question

I recently bought this MXQ PRO Smart Android TV Box - H 265 Ultimate HD Android 7.1.2. The instruction book is pathetic.

My immediate problem is to do with my external hard drive. I can't figure out how to eject it from the tv box, so I can turn the whole system off or connect the hard drive to my computer without the external hard drive being corrupted. If I just switch the power off the External Hard Drive stops working and my PC has to scan and repair it.

How do I eject the external hard drive?

Using your remote control, assuming you already have connected the external HDD:

-press the list icon button , on remote controller
- you'll reach Android settings or Settings
-navigate to Device preferences and open it
- navigate to Storage and open it
-under Removable storage you'll see your external hard drive name, open it.

Use Eject if you want to safely remove it

Use Set up as a removable storage if you intend to remove and use is contained data on other devices

Use Erase and format as device storage if you want to be permanently attached to your Android tv box. In this case, if you remove it, you will not able to use on other devices.
