Hi,

Could I suggest for now you ignore all the technical stuff about codecs. The Mag 256 is supported by Rapid and I use a 256 and 254 with no problems. The 256 requires Stalker 5.xxx which is installed on Rapids servers.

If if you go to the main home page on Rapidiptv.com in the support section there is a number of articles on setting up a Mag. Just ensure you put the Rapid URL in the portal section.

I set up both boxes using that tutorial video.
the 254 works, the 256 does not.
These are facts.


If your 256 works and has no freezes, i heartily invite you to post all the settings you made to get it to work.

So I think it's your network issue. Do you use ethernet câble ?
Yes they are connected by cat6a hq-Ethernet cable
You used same câble with mag 254 ?
Yes, I disconnected the 256 because it froze over and over again and then I connected the 254 on the same cable.

254 works like a charm- 256 freezes. No other changes only the box itself.

(After about 5 minutes the 256 freezes completely. It freezes so deep, that nothing is gonna wake it up again.
neither any button you press on the remote control nor the tiny button on the backside of the device, which seems to have no function at all. The only thing that helps is to pull the pwr cable and force hard- restart. But then, after 3-5 mins... guess what..

I would love to get the 256 to function and would keep it if that was the case (otherwise I have to return it next two weeks) because it's booting definitely faster and canal change time is faster. But freezing is very annoying and I have tried nearly anything.

First thing I did was a fw update.
Then
I tried changing the standby mode to "active" as suggested by infomir, the Ukrainian manufacturer on their support email.
ive tried setting dns server to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (both google)
turned off firewall completely
Bought an expensive hq ethernet cable (cat6a)
restored factory settings several times and setup like shown in mag setup video
then
tried to use embedded portal
then switched to normal mode again

My friends have the same problem, and other people on the forum have the problem too. Some of the people pretend that they managed it to get it to work, (and I believe those people, too!!!)

so either the people whose 256 freezes frequently ((incl me)) got their boxes out of an faulty lot or I don't know where the problem has its roots)

yes i think that can be the only reason.
my subscription is now connected to the mac Adress of my 254.
i will return my 256 now for a replacement and try again with the replaced box.

@Cuvillier, would you provide a test acct for a couple of hours for testing purposes?

Has the EPG issue been fixed? the only EPG i can see on mag254 is for USA channels no epg on indian / pakistani or UK Channels

We don't have EPG for India/Pakistan yet. UK,NL,SE,PT,ES,FR are being updated at the moment. US,RO are ok for now.

The day before yesterday all evening and last night as from 00.08 am.
Anyone else experienced the same?
I am convinced it is not my MAG nor my internet like Rapid wants me to believe....

i have to check hardware version number in my case, when i come back home, as i believe i have 7.1, but i am not sure.
i ordered a new 256 to try if i am luckier with the new one.
if the new one has the same problem i stay with my 254, which is a tiny bit slower in booting and changing of channels

Hopefuly becoming a UK reseller and would like to personalize my MAG254 boxes.
Is there a way to change layout etc... cia css & html maybe?
What about boot images etc?

If anyone has some info and maybe a link or two i can look at i would greatly appreciate it!
